Third World Sudoku Championship
CHAMPIONSHIP

After the first two editions of the World Sudoku Championship (WSC) were held in respectively Lucca (Italy) in 2006 and Prague (Czech Republic) in 2007, India was selected to host the third WSC in 2008.

Competitors from over 30 countries are expected to travel to Goa for the first ever WPF championship held in Asia. For some of the competing countries, the WSC in India will also be their first appearance.

Not all sudoku enthusiasts are alike. Some fancy classic sudoku more than others. Others rate arithmetically oriented sudoku variants higher than some. While the 2008 World Sudoku Champion is expected to emerge from a select group of experienced puzzle-solvers, other competitors are yet to gain experience and exposure from international competitions.

For the selection of level and types of sudoku featured at the WSC, as well as for the design of the championship format, an attempt has been made to cater to most, if not all, categories of participants. Only time will tell whether this attempt has been successful.

We hope all WSC participants will take home fond memories not only of the championship and fellow competitors, but also of Mobor beach, Goa and India.
